The sixth stop on the Prairie State Bassmasters Tour, was Lake Sara in Effingham Illinois. The weather cooperated, as the morning greeted the anglers with fog that kept the sun down for a few hours. Sixteen anglers took to the water with great expectations. The water temperature ranged from 85 to 89 degrees throughout the day. Fish were caught in numerous ways, from the comments at the weigh in. Worms and jigs seem to be very popular.  There were 19 fish caught, for a total weight of 34.79 pounds for an average weight of 1.8 pounds per fish. Danny Simpson bested the field with 2 fish, that weight a total of five pounds, Dan Brown finished second with 2 fish that weighed 4.6 pounds, and third place went to Dennis Bubinas with 3 fish that weighed 4.3 pounds. Danny Simpson had the big fish of the day with a beautiful 3.8 pound bass.
The angler at the top of the Angler of the Year race stayed right there as club president Travis Hendrix (462 points) increased his lead over second place Ian Macdonald (451points). Third place is Dennis Bubinas with 436 points. Fourth place is being held down by John Angel with 419 points. John Ruzich with 404 points, is in fifth place, and occupying the last place on the state qualifying team for now is non-boater George Laniosz with 398 points. Chuck Hennessy  and Rich Pach are tied for seventh place with 381 points, both are non-boaters.
The next stop on the tour is the Des plaines - Kankakee River September 18th.  The next meeting is at Bass Pro Shops in Bolingbrook IL, at 7pm September 12th.  Good Fishin!!
